LAST TIME OUT
The Golden Bears' kicked off NSIC conference play with a series sweep over the Bemidji State Beavers last Sunday-Monday at the Woodside Sports Complex in Mauston, Wis.

CSP claimed the series opener with a narrow 6-4 victory that was propelled by strong pitching performances from Korey Dahlberg (2-2) and Matt Sherman, along with home runs from Koby McBroome (1) and Nick Thimsen (2). Concordia controlled the early innings and led by as many as four runs and held Bemidji State scoreless for five innings. However, the Beavers would not go away quietly as they posted two runs and left five runners on base in the final two innings of play, but it was not enough as the Golden Bears would hang on for the two-run win.

In game one of Monday's doubleheader, a career game from Jonah Lewis (1-2), along with strong hitting performances from Bryce Nelson, Kal Brohmer and Brayden Roybal led to the 9-0 shutout victory over the Beavers. CSP struck first with a pair of runs in the first followed by back-to-back one-run innings. The Golden Bears capped off the dominating performance with five runs in the seventh to secure the series win.

In game two, Christian Morel (1-2) picked up his first win on the mound while Justin McGuigan, Noah Juliar and Nelson provided solid at-bats in the 11-4 victory. Game two was more competitive than the first as the two teams traded the lead in the opening four innings. However, the Golden Bears scored nine unanswered runs to put away the Beavers to claim the series sweep.

Nelson led the Golden Bears in hitting against BSU, slashing .444/.500/.778 in the series with four hits that included a triple and double. The junior infielder added four runs, drove in three runs and successfully stole a base.

Roybal added a solid outing at the plate with four hits and three runs while also driving three runs and was walked three times.

Brohmer also performed well, slashing .400/.538/.700 with four hits and four runs with two RBIs, three walks and a stolen base.

Wolf slashed .400/.455. /400 with four hits, three runs, an RBI, a stolen base and a walk.

For the starting pitchers, Lewis had a career game after matching a career-high 7.0 innings pitched with nine strikeouts in the shutout victory. Dahlberg also had a career day after setting career highs in both innings pitched with 7.0 and strikeouts with nine. Morel worked 6.0 innings with a season-high six strikeouts for the Golden Bears.

In relief, Logan Shaffer added a solid 2.0 innings from the bullpen, striking out three of the six batters he faced, and Sherman added his second career save after stranding the final three batters to close out the game
