ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia-St. Paul women's basketball team finished out exhibition play on Thursday night with a 78-43 win over the St. Kate's Wildcats. The Golden Bears outscored the Wildcats 21-8 in the second quarter.
Concordia shot 46.4% from the field and held the Wildcats to shooting 26.8%. The Golden Bears made 11 more 3-pointers than St. Kate's shooting 40% from behind the arc. CSP had seven more rebounds, eight more blocks and 14 more assists than the Wildcats. St. Kate's never had the lead in the game.
CSP produced a balanced attack with nine different players scoring. The team was led by Leah Dengerud with 13 points and she also produced three steals. Ally Gietzel finished with 12 points after shooting 100% from behind the arc. She also tallied six rebounds as well.
Megan Gamble finished with a double-double scoring 11 points and tallying 10 rebounds. Gamble finished the night shooting 80% from the field. Lauren Wilson was also in the double digits with 11 points and four rebounds.
Mikayla Kanenwisher finished with nine points shooting 80% from the field. Lauren Feddema led the team in assists with five and scored seven points. Ashley Schuelke scored seven points, Jalyn Shaw finished with five points and Ella Campbell scored three points.
The Concordia bench produced 28 points in the game. The Golden Bears also scored 37 points off of turnovers compared to 12 for the Wildcats.
Concordia St. Paul will start regular season action in the Central Region Crossover Challenge in St. Joseph, Missouri. The Golden Bears will take on Southeastern Oklahoma State on Friday, Nov. 10 at 5:15 p.m. and then will play No. 25 Missouri Western State on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
