All 16 Golden Bears see action in the win

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The #4 Concordia-St. Paul volleyball team (21-2, 12-2 NSIC) completed the weekend sweep with a four-set win (25-16, 25-12, 22-25, 25-10) over Minnesota Crookston (3-19, 1-13 NSIC) on Saturday night at Gangelhoff Center.

CSP made it 37 wins in a row against UMC as the Golden Eagles took their first set in the series since 2018 and their fourth since 1999.

It was a second straight efficient offensive night for the Golden Bears as they hit .457 with 68 kills and just 10 errors on 127 swings. They were especially effective in the second set as they did not commit an error on 24 attempts, finishing with 17 kills and a .708 hitting percentage. Defensively, Concordia held Minnesota Crookston to .131 hitting with 31 kills in the win.

All 16 Golden Bears saw action in the match with 13 collecting at least one kill and 13 collecting at least one dig in the victory. Makenna Berger paced all players with 15 kills in her two sets of play while Ellie Sieling led the way with 17 digs. Berger hit an excellent .591 while falling two digs shy of a double-double with eight. Sieling chipped in three kills, three assists and an ace on the night.

CSP's two setters each filled the box score as Teagan Starkey finished with 29 assists and four digs in her two sets while Halle Bemmels collected 28 assists and eight digs in her two.

Emma Schmidt finished a dig short of a double-double with 13 kills and nine digs while Jasmine Mulvihill gave Concordia three players in double figures in kills with 10 to go along with six digs and three blocks. Schmidt hit .632 on 19 swings and Mulvihill hit .600 on 15 swings.

After using an early 4-0 run to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 5-2 lead, the Golden Bears slowly added to their lead throughout. The advantage reached eight at 14-6 and eventually grew to as many as nine at the final margin of 25-16.

The second set followed a similar script as Concordia sparked an extended 14-5 run with five straight points, turning an 11-7 edge into a 25-12 set win.

After falling behind early in the third set, CSP jumped in front 12-9 with four points in a row before maintaining a lead until 17-15, but the Golden Eagles would not go away. UMC regained the lead with a 4-0 run of their own before scoring three of the last four points of the set to win it 25-22.

The Golden Bears wasted little time putting it out of reach in the fourth set as they scored the first three points and six of the first eight before ballooning it from there. CSP finished the set especially strong with 11 of the last 13 points to finish of the victory with a 25-10 win.
