MANKATO, Minn.- The Concordia-St. Paul track and field wrapped up action at the Mark Schuck Open on Saturday which was highlighted by
Jakob Tordsen who set the nation's number one mark with the 11th best performance in NCAA Division II history in the heptathlon with a score of 5580.
Â
Tordsen,
Calder Erick and
Eben Mundfrom each collected NCAA provisional qualifying marks on the weekend in the heptathlon for the Golden Bears while both squads combined for 30 top-10 finishes and top-4 finishes in the team standings.
Â
In the men's division, the Golden Bears finished tied for third with Augustana with 73 team points. Minnesota State was able to claim the event championship with a score of 243 followed by Wayne State with 99.
Â
Jose Nevarez-Ramirez,
Thomas Schauerman and Tordsen each collected first-place finishes on the weekend. Schauerman's performance in 600m was good enough for a new school record that has been held by Kyle Warren since 2006. Mundfrom also had an impressive showing for Concordia with a second-place finish in the weight throw.
Â
In the women's division, CSP was able to notch a fourth-place finish with a total score of 59.5. Minnesota State was also able to claim first in the women's division with a score of 222.5 followed by Augustana (127) and Sioux Falls (75).
Â
The 4x200 relay team made up
Cece Lewis,
Jaid Perry,
Arika Harbo, and
Sydney Jackson was the lone first-place finish for the Golden Bears. Lewis added a runner-up finish for the Golden Bears in the 300m, breaking Alyssa Christianson's school record that was set in 2014.
The Golden Bears' track and field teams will take a short trip to Minneapolis next Saturday for the Gopher Classic hosted by the University of Minnesota at Minnesota Fieldhouse.Â
