TITLE IX SPOTLIGHT, Volleyball

CSP celebrates the 50th anniversary of Title IX

1.27.23

ST. PAUL, Minn. – In honor of the 50th anniversary of the passage of Title IX, the Concordia-St. Paul athletic department will be spotlighting its nine female athletic programs throughout the 2022-23 school year. The third spotlight is the CSP volleyball program.

The amount of ways that Title IX has had an impact on my life is infinite. I can say without a doubt, I would not be the same person I am today without my experiences as a collegiate volleyball player. This sport has taught me resilience, mental toughness, how to push my boundaries and most importantly how to be a positive teammate and leader. All of these qualities have helped me be successful in my profession and personal life after college. I am forever grateful for having had the opportunity to be a college athlete, it has made me a better person in so many ways!

The effects of Title IX on our program has been significant because of the rise in participation in volleyball throughout Minnesota and the country. Our program benefits from the large number of talented athletes that are taking advantage of the opportunities they have because of the work done over 50 years ago by the creators of Title IX. We honor the work they did by molding strong people that will continue building and fighting for the inequalities that are still prevalent in our society today.
