ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia-St. Paul sophomore center fielder
Clara Heislen, the club's leadoff hitter in the 2022 season, has been named a CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 First Team selection, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.
The District 7 Team represents the NCAA Division II Central Region, comprised of the Northern Sun (NSIC), Mid-American (MIAA) and Great American (GAC) conferences. She is academically a senior, athletically a sophomore and just completed her third season of play, including the canceled 2020 softball season due to COVID-19, restoring her athletic eligibility. She carries a 3.98 grade point average while pursuing a 5-12 Health & K-12 Physical Education major.
She advances to the 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot, which will be voted on by CoSIDA members of NCAA Division II. She joins Anna Bjorlin as the program's only repeat CoSIDA Academic All-District award winners, and the first to earn back-to-back First Team honors with Academic All-America ballot presence. Anna Bjorlin was a three-time Academic All-District selection, moving from the Third Team in 2008 to the Second Team in 2009 and First Team in 2010, going on to earn selection to the Academic All-America Third Team in 2010.
