LAST TIME OUT
On Saturday, the Golden Bears dropped the final two games of the weekend series to Sioux Falls as the Cougars took game one 1-0 and game two 7-2 at First National Bank Field in Brandon, S.D.

On a cold and windy afternoon, the pitchers controlled the game in the opener as Korey Dahlberg and Logan Parker-Sjoberg matched zeroes throughout. A lone run in the home half of the fifth proved to be the difference as three straight reached with two outs, capped by a Connor King RBI single, to bring in the game's only tally.

Dahlberg (4-2) limited the Cougars to just one run on four hits in the complete game loss. The right-hander walked three and struck out a pair in his 6.0 innings of work.

The zeroes continued to come early in game two as the two teams were held off the board until a Golden Bear run in the fourth, but that lead would not last as the Cougars answered with runs in each of the next four innings to gain a comfortable lead. CSP trimmed a run from the deficit in the ninth and loaded the bases with a chance to pull even closer, but USF held on to claim the win.

Kal Brohmer and Jack Young each delivered a pair of hits for CSP as Brohmer collected a pair of singles, a walk and a hit by pitch while Young went 2-4 with a run scored in the loss.

Justin McGuigan collected the team's lone extra-base hit and RBI with a run-scoring double in the fourth while Brayden Roybal chipped in a hit and a pair of walks. Jack Greenlun added a pinch-hit single as well while Jarod Wandersee drew a bases loaded walk in the seventh to pick up an RBI of his own.

MINNESOTA STATE SERIES HISTORY
In 45 previous meetings with the Mavericks, Concordia has gone 7-38 in the all-time series. CSP's seven wins have been evenly spread out throughout the series with their lone stretch of back-to-back wins coming back in 2016. Since winning two in a row back in 2016, Minnesota State has won 11 of 12. The Golden Bears hold a record of 3-16 in 19 games in Mankato.

LAST MEETING WITH THE MAVERICKS
The two teams were scheduled to play a non-conference contest at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational on March 7 but they did not make it out of the first inning as the game was halted twice due to rain and lightning before being called nearly three hours after the scheduled first pitch.

In their last meeting last season, CSP dropped their final road game of the season at then-#13 Minnesota State by a score of 18-4 in seven innings on May 3, 2021.

The Mavericks used a big 11 run second inning to pull away early as they cruised to a weekend sweep at Bowyer Field.

On a day in which 25 different CSP players entered the game, CSP's seven hits came from seven different players. Three of those hits came from pinch hitters, including a JT Hoffmann solo home run, as Mason Wolf and Brayden Roybal also came off the bench to deliver hits. Patrick Bordewick delivered a double and a run scored while Ted ElsnerRyan Christopher and Jarod Wandersee all chipped in singles as well. Cody Maier added a walk, a run scored and an RBI.

Ryan Fering provided 2.0 solid innings of relief as he allowed just one hit in a pair of scoreless frames.

REACHING THE CENTURY MARK
Heading into the week, Golden Bear junior Jarod Wandersee has collected 97 career hits, putting him just three shy of 100. Senior Ryan Christopher currently leads all active players with 108 career hits after reaching the milestone last season.
