ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia Golden Bears baseball team and Minot State have announced their mid-week doubleheader has been moved to First National Bank of River Falls Field on Wednesday at 10 a.m. CSP will also take on Sioux Falls on Friday and Saturday for a three-game series at First National Bank Field at Aspen Park.

SCHEDULE INFORMATION
With a blizzard warning in Minot, N.D. and inclement weather in the forecast on Tuesday, the decision was made to shift the series back a day and move it to FNBRF Field. First pitch in the seven-inning game one is set to begin at 10 a.m. with the nine-inning game two set to begin about 30 minutes after the completion of game one.

The weekend series has been shifted to First National Bank Field at Aspen Park in Brandon, S.D. The two teams will play a single nine-inning game on Friday starting at 1 p.m. before playing a doubleheader on Saturday at noon.

LAST TIME OUT
On Monday, CSP dropped the final game of the series to St. Cloud State by a score of 17-7 in eight innings at Joe Faber Field.

CSP received hits from six different players with Jarod WanderseeJack Young and Kal Brohmer all delivering doubles. Wandersee added two walks, an RBI and a pair of runs scored while Young also scored twice and drew a walk. Brohmer chipped in an RBI in the contest.

Brayden Roybal continued to draw walks at an impressive clip as he walked three times and collected a single to bump his on-base percentage back up to .500 on the year.

Matt Pietsch made it three homers in the past 10 games as he launched a three-run blast in the seventh.

MINOT SERIES HISTORY
Heading into Wednesday's doubleheader, Concordia holds a slight edge in the all-time series with a record of 9-8 in 17 previous meetings. CSP won the first four contests between the two schools in 2014 and 2015, MiSU responded with wins in four straight in 2017. Since then, the two teams have traded wins with CSP winning five of the last nine, including a split last season. 11 of the previous 17 meetings have come at a neutral site, with the Golden Bears going 5-6 in those contests.

LAST MEETING WITH THE BEAVERS
On April 7, 2021, the Golden Bears bounced back from a 5-3 game one loss to claim a 16-10 game two win and a split on the road at Minot State.

The Golden Bear offense put up a huge performance in game two as they hammered out 19 hits and 16 runs as six different players registered multi-hit efforts. Nine of those 19 hits went for extra bases as the team slugged four doubles, two triples and three home runs in the contest.

Nick Thimsen collected three of those extra base hits as he finished the game 3-6 with a homer, two doubles, three runs scored and a pair of RBIs to lead the way. Jack Young added a 3-6 effort of his own with a home run, four RBIs, two runs and a steal in a full line.

Jarod Wandersee and Justin McGuigan gave CSP four players with three hits as Wandersee went 3-6 with three runs batted in while McGuigan legged out a pair of triples as a part of a 3-5 performance with two RBIs, two runs and a steal. Matt Pietsch added two doubles while Eathan Soeffker launched a solo homer in the win.

On the mound, Joey Atkinson worked 3.0 innings in a no decision before TJ Johnson provided 3.0 one-hit innings with five strikeouts to pick up the win.

SIOUX FALLS SERIES HISTORY
Concordia has found success in the series with Sioux Falls since they joined the NSIC in 2013 as they have collected 18 wins in 27 previous meetings. CSP's best stretch came from 2014-16 as they won eight straight during that span. The series has evened out a bit more since then with the Golden Bears going 7-6 in the last 13 meetings. Concordia holds a record of 7-4 in 11 meetings in Sioux Falls.

LAST MEETING WITH THE COUGARS
Back on May 8, 2021, CSP closed out the season with another high scoring contest with Sioux Falls as the Golden Bears fell 13-8 at Barnes Field.

It proved to be a game of runs at the hitter-friendly ballpark as USF scored the game's first three runs before Concordia responded with eight in a row. It was the Cougars that struck last, however, as they scored the last 10 runs of the game to claim the win.

Nick Thimsen capped off a tremendous first season as a Golden Bear regular as the right fielder launched a pair of home runs as a part of a 3-5 performance with four RBIs and two runs scored. The big game brought his season slash line to .348/.403/.652 with a team-best eight home runs.

Chandler Ibach continued his late season surge as he homered for the fourth time in three games while collecting his third straight multi-hit game. The catcher finished 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Ryan Bastyr concluded his Golden Bear career with a three-hit effort as Bastyr and Matt Pietsch each went 3-5. Fellow senior Patrick Bordewick picked up his 34th career double as he set the program record for most games started in his final game in navy and gold.
