CSP fall to UW-Eau Claire in final exhibition game

The Golden Bears hit the road next week for a non-conference matchup with Michigan Tech

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul women's basketball team fell to UW-Eau Claire 72-70 in their last exhibition game of the fall. The Golden Bears were led by sophomore center Lindsey Becher who finished the night with 19 points, nine blocks, and eight rebounds.

Ally Gietzel and Jalyn Shaw joined Becher as the top three scorers for the Golden Bears. Gietzel finished with 12 points to go with four rebounds and three assists. Shaw scored 11, adding three assists and a steal. Jadyn Hanson dished out five assists to lead the team, as well grabbing two steals and three rebounds.

Returners Sarah Kuma and Megan Gamble both made an impact in the exhibition. Kuma scored eight points and was 2-4 on 3-point shots. Gamble picked up six points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals coming off the bench.

After a back and forth first half, the Golden Bear's were able to build a double digit lead in the third. Unfortunately, after Shaw and Becher fouled out in the fourth quarter, UWEC was to pick at the Concordia lead. The Bluegolds were able to put together a 12-5 run to close out the game, capped it off with a contested game winning shot at the buzzer.

The CSP women begin their regular season on November 14, in Houghton, Mich. against the Michigan Tech Huskies before heading to Kenosha, Wis. to play the Parkside Rangers on November 19.
