WAYNE, Neb. – The Concordia-St. Paul men's basketball team (1-9, 0-4 NSIC) saw Wayne State (6-4, 3-1 NSIC) pull away with a big first half run in a 60-41 loss on the road on Friday night at Rice Auditorium.

The Wildcats used a 25-0 run in the game's opening half to turn an 11-7 CSP lead into a comfortable lead of their own as they dropped the Golden Bears to 19-27 in the all-time series and 7-15 in Wayne.

Elijah Ormiston carried the load offensively for Concordia as he cleared 20+ points for the second game in a row and third time this season as he led all players with 24 points on 9-14 shooting and 5-5 from the free throw line. The freshman added four boards in his 26 minutes of action.

No other Golden Bears reached double figures as Reid Patterson and Sunday John each chipped in four points while George Scharlau and Ian Sluice each had three. Marcus Skeete paced the squad with six rebounds and four assists in the loss.

The lead remained at four at 11-7 at the 12:50 mark before the Wildcats completely turned the momentum with a massive 25-0 run over the next eight minutes to take a 32-11 lead. Concordia answered with a 7-1 run to trim it back to 15 at 35-18, but Janssen scored the final six points of the half to bring it to 39-18 at the break.

After an early bucket for Patterson shrunk the deficit back below 20 in the opening minutes of the second half, WSC scored the next seven as they kept the lead at 19 or more for the rest of the night. Wayne State led by as many as 26 on several occasions throughout the night before a late 11-4 run, with all 11 scored by Ormiston, trimming it to the final margin of 60-41.
