ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia University, St. Paul community mourns the loss of
Jordyn Clark, 23, a member of the women's soccer team from 2016 to 2019 and the 2019-20 CSP Female Athlete of the Year.
CSP Ministry will host a chapel service in Jordyn's memory on Wednesday, January 20 at 11 a.m. in Graebner Memorial Chapel. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this chapel service is closed to the general public, but will be
streamed live online. Students and employees in the chapel will be expected to follow campus COVID-19 guidelines such as wearing face masks and adhering to distancing guidelines in the chapel.
Blessed with an infectious personality, a gigantic heart and a smile that was matched only by her enthusiasm, she impacted countless members of the Concordia community. Her mere presence transcended her status as a goalie on the soccer team.
"'Clarky' epitomized our program and everything I'd want from a student-athlete. She knew when to work hard, she certainly knew how to have fun and she understood what the team meant to everyone. She was a bright light and was loved by everyone at CSP," said head coach
Steve Bellis.
He continued, "It feels like we lost a family member, she will always be loved."
She was an advocate for mental health and fought for social justice. She was the mother of Mickey, her beloved 4-year old dog.
Jordyn was a psychology major and working in a related field in the Twin Cities area and was actively involved in the club soccer circuit as a goalies coach.
The most decorated goalkeeper in the history of CSP women's soccer, Clark was named the NSIC Goalkeeper of the Year in leading the Golden Bears to the 2019 NSIC Regular Season Championship, the first in the history of the program. The Golden Bears also reached the NCAA Central Region Tournament during Clark's senior year, and Clark's play in goal led to a shootout win over Northeastern State in the first round for the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament win. She was recognized as the United Soccer Coaches as well as the D2CCA as an All-Central Region First Team selection.
She was the league leader in shutouts (10), set the program single season records for goalie wins (17-3-3), shutouts (12.3) and goals against average (0.64).
Her career includes the CSP record for wins (26), shutouts (17.4) and ties (8) and ranks second in career goals against average (0.98) and is tied for third all-time in games played (47).
An Eagan High School graduate, Jordyn was a team captain in 2015 and earned the Wildcat Award in 2014 while helping the program capture conference, section and state titles in 2014.
Jordyn is the daughter of Ken Clark and Lori Risting-Clark and has two older brothers, Corey and Cole.
