Golden Bears 7th for the second week in a row in NCAA Region Rankings

CSP set to begin the NSIC Tournament tonight against Bemidji State

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The NCAA released their second Region Rankings, and the Concordia-St. Paul women's basketball team was remained in seventh in the Central Region. The Golden Bears will begin the NSIC Tournament tonight at 6 p.m. against Bemidji State at the Gangelhoff Center. If they are victorious in that game, they will advance to the Sanford Pentagon, where the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals of the NSIC Tournament will be held on March 2-5.

The NSIC, the Great American Conference (GAC) and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) make up the 42-team NCAA Central Region. The top eight teams in the region advance to the NCAA Regional Tournament on March 15-16, 18. Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the NSIC, GAC and MIAA postseason tournaments, with the remaining five spots being awarded on an at-large basis. The region rankings are listed below:

CSP has played three teams in the top 10, falling to MSU Moorhead in overtime (58-63), collecting a 51-47 win over Minnesota Duluth, and beating Washburn 61-59 in their second game of the season.

Concordia has recorded 10 NCAA Tournament appearances in program history, most recently reaching the NCAA Division II Elite Eight in the 2013-14 season which was also the last time the program cracked the NCAA Central Region rankings on February 19, 2014.

The NCAA Women's Basketball Selection Show is set to air on NCAA.com at 9 p.m. (CT) on Sunday, March 10. The NCAA Elite 8 will take place on March 26-27, 29 at the Alumni Hall in Columbus, Ohio.
