Mulvihill named AVCA Region Freshman of the Year

The Lakeville native was also named AVCA All-Region and D2CCA All-Region Second Team

TOPEKA, Kan. – On Wednesday, the AVCA and D2CCA All-Region Teams were released and Concordia-St. Paul's Jasmine Mulvihill was named AVCA Freshman of the Year and All-Region while also being named D2CCA All-Region Second Team.
 
Mulvihill became the first Golden Bear freshman since 2011 to earn All-Region honors as she was the lone underclassmen to garner recognition on the D2CCA team and one of two on the AVCA team this year.
 
Northern State University junior outside hitter Laura Snyder has been named both the AVCA and D2CCA Central Regional Player of the Year. Rick Squiers of Nebraska-Kearney was selected as the AVCA Central Region Coach of the Year. Mulvihill and Snyder are two of nine All-Region who will take part in the NCAA Central Regional starting Thursday in Nebraska-Kearney.
 
The make-up from the teams by conference was 11 NSIC selections and three MIAA selections in the AVCA and seven NSIC selections, five MIAA selections and two GAC selections in the D2CCA.
 
The AVCA teams were selected by coaches in the region while the D2CCA teams were picked by region sports information directors.

  • Has reached double figures in kills in 31 of 32 matches, including eight with 20 or more
  • Has collected eight double-doubles, including the first 20-20 effort for the program since 2011 in a win over WSC
  • Her 4.25 kills per set on the season are sixth-most in the DII-era at CSP while her 510 total kills rank seventh
