ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul men's basketball team dropped their exhibition finale to Augsburg by a score of 89-85 on Thursday night at Gangelhoff Center.

In a game that featured a combined 24 made three-pointers on the night, it was the Auggies that won the battle from beyond the arc as they connected on 14 threes to aid their effort. CSP did finish with the better percentage as they hit 10-25 (40.0%) compared to 14-37 (37.8%) for Augsburg. Concordia finished the night at 47.5% (29-61) from the floor while the Auggies hit 49.2% (31-63). CSP did manage a 36-28 edge in points in the paint on the loss.

Jordan Coblin played a leading role for the Golden Bears with a game-high 31 points as he connected on 8-15 from the field, 4-8 from deep and 11-12 from the free throw line. He also dished out seven assists while grabbing three rebounds and three steals on the night.

Jacob Shields and Perrion Little also reached double figures as Shields put up 14 points with five rebounds and Little added 12 points on 4-5 from beyond the arc.

The duo of Booker Coplin and Henry Mulligan paced the Auggies in the win as Coplin filled the stat sheet with 26 points, six rebounds, six steals and five assists while Mulligan buried nine three-pointers to finish with 27 points.

The Golden Bears jumped out to an early 10-3 lead and continued to maintain a lead until Augsburg jumped ahead 19-18 at the 12:12 mark of the half. It was back and forth for much of the half as Concordia led as late as 32-31 with 6:03 to go, but a late 16-6 run gave the Auggies a 47-38 lead at the half.

The Augsburg lead hit 12 at 54-42 with 17:22 left in the game, but the Golden Bears battled their way back in it and evened the score at 68-68 following an extended 26-14 run spanning just over 10 minutes. Concordia was unable to get over the top as a 9-0 run on three straight threes gave Augsburg the lead for good. CSP showed some more resilience as they trimmed the margin back down to two at 84-82 with just under a minute to play, but one last three iced the game for the Auggies as they held on for a 89-85 win.

Concordia opens up the regular season next week at UW-Parkside as they take on Minnesota Crookston on Nov. 15th at 5 p.m. in their first of two games on the weekend.
