WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Third-seeded #20 Concordia-St. Paul women's soccer (17-3-3) had its NCAA Central Region Tournament run come to a close, falling 2-0 at second seed #4 Central Missouri (19-2-1) on Sunday afternoon at Jennies Field.
Concordia, champions of the Northern Sun (NSIC) during the regular season, conclude a historic season that included program records for overall wins, NSIC wins, best start to a season, longest unbeaten streak, first NSIC championship, first trip to the NSIC Tournament championship game, first NCAA Tournament appearance and first NCAA Tournament victory.
NSIC Coach of the Year
Steve Bellis commented on his team's historic season after the game, "We had a great freshman group and they pushed us really hard, but we had an extremely strong senior group so combined those together with the bits in the middle it's a great group. Great team chemistry and everyone bring something to the team it's been really fun and really refreshing to see us be so successful and to win so many games."
RECAP
In the first half, the Jennies has good ball movement as they held possession 60% of the time in the first half and outshot the Golden Bears 4-1 while putting three shots on net and the Golden Bears had open shot on goal. In the 12
th minute of play the Jennies got on the board first as Kassie Newsom scored on a ball Nayeli Gallo to get Central Missouri up 1-0 in the first half. In the 21
st minute Makayla Toth scored her team leading 18
th goal of the season with an assist from Emily Kramer to give the Jennies a 2-0 lead. The Golden Bear's picked up their place of play and had better ball movement throughout the rest of the half and in the 42
nd minute mark
Kiara Myers had a scoring opportunity for the Golden Bears, but it was saved by Lindsey Johnson. Concordia would go into halftime trailing Central Missouri 2-0.
Jordyn Clark made one save and faced three corner kicks in the first 45 minutes. Lindsey Anderson made one save in the first half for the Jennies.
In the second half of play the Golden Bears picked up their tempo as they controlled the ball most of the half and had great ball movement which set up some scoring opportunities for the Golden Bears. CSP out shot UCM 3-1 in the second half and the Golden Bears put three shots on goal and held the Jennies to one shot on goal.
Leah Johnson sent a ball on net in the 50
th minute mark to try and get the Golden Bears on the board early in the second half but Johnson jumped up to make the save. In the 63
rd minute mark Haley Freeman took a shot, but
Jordyn Clark made the big save to keep it a 2-0 game. In the 66 minute of play
Cayla Renwick had a scoring opportunity but Lindsey Johnson made a great leaping save to punch the ball away. In the 89
th minute
Emily Boyer took one last shot for CSP, but Johnson made the save to end the Golden Bears historic season. This was only the fourth game of the season that the Golden Bears were held scoreless.
Steve Bellis commented on going up against the 2017 National Champions, "We knew going into it that it would be a challenge and I felt we did enough to be prepared. They are strong and physical and play very well tactically and two fantastic goals against us in the first half."
Bellis also commented on how they wanted to approach UCM's leading scored Makayla Toth, "
Jackie Ehlert, Jackie is an outstanding fullback she's a great defender, reads the game well, extremely athletic. To be honest I think she did a really good job of putting number 22 in a pocket for most of the game."
Jordyn Clark finished with two saves and faced four corner kicks and recorded only her third loss of the season. Clark finishes with a 26-13-8 record, recording the most career wins as a CSP keeper. Lindsey Johnson made four saves and recorded a shutout in the victory for the Jennies.

-Set a program record for most goals scored in against a DII opponent with six against Northern State 10/27/19
-Won their first ever Regular Season Conference Championship in a 1-0 victory over Minnesota State on November 8th. That was their first ever win over the Mavericks in program history.
-On 9/10/19 CSP was ranked 10th in the Central Region rankings with a 1-0-0 record.
-On 9/17/19 CSP was ranked 9th in the Central Region rankings with a 3-0-0 record
-On 10/1/19 CSP was ranked fourth in the Central Region Rankings with a 6-0-1 record
-On 10/8/19 CSP was ranked third in the Central Region Rankings with a 7-0-2 record

-On 11/18/19 CSP was selected to their first ever NCAA Central Regional appearance being selected as the three seed.
-On 10/8/19 CSP was ranked nationally in the NCAA National Rankings poll for the first time in program history sitting at #22 in the nation with a 7-0-2 record
-On 10/25/19 CSP moved up to #16 in the NCAA National Rankings poll with a 9-0-2 record
-On 10/22/19 CSP remained firmly at #16 in the NCAA National Rankings poll with a 11-0-2 record.
-On 10/29/19 CSP moved up to #15 in the NCAA National Rankings poll with a 13-0-2 record.

-The Golden Bears won their first playoff game in a 2-0 victory over Wayne State on November 13

Jordyn Clark win the NSIC's Goalkeeper of the Year,
Nikki Anderson win the NSIC's Freshman of the year award and head coach
Steve Bellis win the NSIC Coach of the year award. Clark, Haub and Anderson all became the first player's in program history to receive their respected awards and coach
Steve Bellis became the first head coach to receive the coach of the year award since 2006.

Hannah Pedersen was named to the D2CCA All-Region Second Team. The four selections are the most in team history and bumps Concordia's total to nine in team history. It's the second time in team history the team has had multiple selections in the same year and the first time since the 2006 season when they had a pair of selections.
