11.14.19

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Concordia-St. Paul head baseball coach Neil Lerner has announced the addition of seven prep recruits in the 2021 signing class.

The group features four pitchers, an infielder, an outfielder and a two-way player with six of the recruits hailing from Minnesota and the seventh making the trek across the border from Wisconsin.

Lerner on the recruiting class: "We are very excited to announce our 2020 recruiting class. Our coaching staff feels that many of these players will have the opportunity to compete for playing time as freshmen and can each develop into impact players. Not only are they each good players, but they are good students and people. We are excited that they have chosen to continue their education and baseball careers at Concordia St Paul and we look forward to assisting them in their development as students, baseball players and people."

Lerner on Borwege: "Noah is a left-hander with a fastball that sits in the low to mid 80's and shows good movement. Noah is a hard worker and a year round baseball player that will continue to develop as a pitcher."

Rodney Erickson (OF, 6-0, 170, Fr., Woodbury, Minn. / Woodbury HS)
Woodbury High School: Lettered six times, three in baseball and three in basketball, for the Royals … was named All-Suburban East Conference and All-Region in 2018 … hit .365 as a sophomore and .386 as a junior between his high school and legion seasons … helped guide the team to winning seasons in each of the last three years, including a trip to the MSHSL State Tournament in 2017.

Personal: Has a sister … undecided on a major at Concordia … his father played football and track at Willmar Community College.

Lerner on Erickson: "Rodney is an outfielder that runs well and has shown the ability to consistently drive the ball to the gaps. Defensively, he is a very good outfielder with a strong arm. Additionally, he is a great student with a first class work ethic."

Connor Fletcher (RHP, 5-10, 160, Fr., Plymouth, Minn. / Wayzata HS)
Wayzata High School: Lettered in baseball for the Trojans … finished with a 3.60 ERA with seven strikeouts in 12.0 IP in his junior year … helped the team to a conference title with a record of 12-7.

Lerner on Go: "David is a baseball junkie with a high IQ for the game. On the mound he is a big presence. He possesses a fastball in the mid to upper 80's range with room to continue to develop. At the plate, he shows plus power from the left hand side."

Rosemount High School: Lettered twice in baseball and once in football for the Irish … named team captain.

Personal: Has two sisters and a brother … plans to major in special education or physical education at Concordia.

Lerner on Shaffer: "Logan has a really loose arm and commands the zone. In addition to quality off speed pitches, his fastball sits in the low to mid 80's and shows both sink and run. Logan is a natural leader and hard worker both on and off the field."
