Golden Bears jump to #1 in latest AVCA Poll

CSP has won 10 matches in a row to move to #1 for the 83rd time all-time

LEXINGTON, Ky. – After rattling off 10 consecutive wins, the Concordia-St. Paul volleyball team moved back into the top spot in the AVCA Division II Coaches Poll, released by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Monday.

The Golden Bears opened the season at #1 in the polls, but have bounced between #2 and #3 in the four weeks since then. Last week's top team and CSP's opponent this Friday, Northern State, dropped a five-setter at Minnesota Duluth on Saturday night to drop out of the top spot. Northern State fell to #3 while UMD moved up to #5. Southwest Minnesota State, who CSP knocked off in five sets on Saturday, fell to #12 while Wayne State dropped entirely out of the rankings after sitting at #18 last week.

The Golden Bears have now spent an incredible 83 weeks at #1 since they debuted there in the 2004 preseason poll. Since the 2007 season, CSP has ranked #1 at least once every season. In addition, Concordia has spent all but one week inside the top-5 since October 2012. The last time that CSP ranked outside the top-10 was back in 2003.
