ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia-St. Paul women's basketball team (6-3, 2-2 NSIC) defeated Upper Iowa (3-8, 0-4 NSIC) by a score of 85-43 Friday evening at the Gangelhoff Center.

Fellow senior Anna Schmitt scored 16 points, and also dished six assists in the win. Kyrah Fredenburg racked up 14 rebounds in addition to pitching in seven points and three assists.

CSP was very efficient from the field, shooting their second highest percentage of the season from the field (49.1%). The Golden Bears were also on point from downtown, shooting their best percentage of season from three (45.5%, 10-22).

Concordia capitalized on 25 UIU turnovers, collecting 14 steals, their most of the season. The Golden Bears scored 38 points off of turnovers compared to the Peacocks' six.

CSP used the three-point shot to get out to an early lead in the first quarter. The Golden Bears got off to a hot start, scoring 10 straight points to start the game, and led 16-1 just over five minutes into the contest. Concordia scored all their points off of threes and free throws in the first quarter, winning the ten-minute period 21-6. Lexi Lee scored eight points to lead the Golden Bears in the first.

Schmitt had 13 points at halftime, while Fredenburg had already pulled down 11 rebounds.

Upper Iowa put up a 12-6 run early in the second half to bring the score to within 16 points, but it would get no closer as CSP closed the quarter on a 12-4 to lead 58-34 at the end of the third.

It was more of the same in the fourth quarter with a new unit into the game for CSP. The Golden Bears bench was very efficient, as they shot a combined 13-20 (65%). Concordia won the fourth quarter by a score of 27-9 to finish with their biggest margin of victory (+42) since early in the 2015-16 season against UPR Rio Piedras.
