Lewis named Academic All-America Second Team

Lewis becomes the 14th player to earn the honor

Austin, Texas – College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced the Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division II volleyball teams and Concordia-St. Paul senior Brooklyn Lewis was named to the Academic All-America® Second Team.
 
For the second year in a row, Lincoln Memorial University senior defensive specialist Erica Whiteaker is the Google Cloud Academic All-America® of the Year for NCAA Division II volleyball, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Division II Academic All-America® teams program.

Fifteen of the 21 members of the Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division II volleyball team have a perfect 4.00 GPA, including all seven student-athletes honored as first team choices. Twelve of the 21 Academic All-America® selections played in this year's NCAA Division II Tournament, including Whiteaker and four other first team members. The aggregate GPA for the 21 Academic All-America® team members is 3.946.
 
Six members of the Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division II volleyball teams are repeat picks. Whiteaker and Anderson (S.C.) University junior setter Emily Conlin both make the first team for the second year in a row. Wayne State (Neb.) College graduate student setter Megan Gebhardt moves up from the second team to the first team, while University of Minnesota Duluth senior outside hitter Makenzie Morgen jumps from the third team to the first team.
 
Texas A&M University - Commerce senior middle blocker Jaslyn Wacker is the only returning student-athlete on the Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division II volleyball second team. She made the second team in 2017. University of Central Oklahoma senior outside hitter Taylor Bevis is the only CoSIDA Academic All-America® veteran on the third team. She made the third team in 2017.
