Three named AVCA All-Region

Lewis, Macek and Mohr all earn the honor

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) released their 2018 Division II Regional Awards and Concordia-St. Paul had three players named AVCA All-Region. Seniors Brooklyn Lewis and Elizabeth Mohr were picked for the second year in a row while junior Sara Macek was a first time selection.
 
CSP's three picks were the most among any school in the Central Region as the NSIC accounted for nine of the 14 selections. Southwest Minnesota State's Taylor Reiss was named the AVCA Central Region Player of the Year for the second consecutive year while St. Cloud State's Linsey Rachel was named the Central Region Freshman of the Year. Washburn head coach Chris Herron was named the Central Region Coach of the Year.
 
The AVCA, with its headquarters in Lexington, Ky., is managed by Associations International. The mission of the AVCA is to advance the sport of volleyball with AVCA coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy and professional development. With a membership of over 7,000 and counting, the AVCA provides a professional network for those individuals and companies dedicated to enhancing and promoting the sport. Members include collegiate, high school, club, youth and Olympic coaches, as well as volleyball club directors. The AVCA provides education to volleyball coaches, recognition of elite players and coaches, promotion of volleyball competitions throughout the world, and networking opportunities for volleyball products and services providers.   • Had double-digit kills in 28 of 33 matches, including six matches with 20+ kills
 
#12 Sara Macek (MB, 5-11, Jr., Monticello, Minn. / Monticello HS)
  • AVCA All-Region
  • D2CCA All-Region First Team
  • All-NSIC First Team
  • Expected to be two-time NSIC All-Academic
  • NSIC Offensive Player of the Week (10/8/18)
  • Finished second in the NSIC and 11th in the nation in hitting percentage at .388
  • Her .388 hitting percentage is ninth-best in single-season history at CSP
  • Led the team with 0.74 blocks per set, registering 13 solo blocks and 77 block assists
  • Ranked second on the team with 3.14 kills per set and 380 total kills
  • Had 10+ kills in 20 matches on the year, including 17 of the last 19 matches 
  • Hit .400 or better in 21 matches, including 10 at .500 or better
 
#13 Elizabeth Mohr (S, 5-7, Sr., Eden Prairie, Minn. / Eden Prairie HS)
  • Two-time AVCA All-Region
  • D2CCA All-Region First Team
  • 2017 AVCA All-America First Team
  • Two-time All-NSIC First Team
  • NCAA Central Region All-Tournament Team
  • Colorado Premier Challenge All-Tournament Team
  • Ferris State Volleyball All-Tournament Team
  • Leads the country with 13.17 assists per set
  • Ranked third on the team with 0.34 aces per set and fourth with 1.96 digs per set
  • Her 0.32 career aces per set rank eighth at Concordia
  • Has collected seven double-doubles
  • Has surpassed 50 assists in 15 matches, including seven with 60+
