ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia men's basketball team (2-0) will look to remain unbeaten this weekend as they play host to Edgewood (0-1) on Saturday night at 6 p.m. in non-conference action.
LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend, Concordia picked up a pair of wins over in-region opponents in the NSIC/GAC Crossover Challenge as they came from behind to beat both Arkansas-Monticello and Arkansas Tech.
The Golden Bears finished strong in both games as they hit 10-14 (71.4%) from three to score 56 second half points against UAM before erasing a nine-point deficit in the final minute against ATU before winning it in the third overtime. CSP was extremely efficient on the offensive end as they hit a combined 50.7% from the floor, 44.4% from beyond the arc and collected a 37/21 assist-to-turnover ratio on the weekend.
Isaiah McKay had quite the debut weekend for CSP as he averaged 30.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.5 threes made and 3.0 assists while knocking down 62.9% (22-35) of his shots and 50.0% (9-18) of his three-pointers in the two games to earn NSIC South Division Player of the Week honors. Meanwhile,
Bryndan Matthews nearly averaged a triple-double as he put up 24.0 points, 10.0 boards and 8.5 assists with a 17-4 assist-to-turnover ratio in the two wins.
EDGEWOOD SERIES HISTORY
The Golden Bears and the Eagles have not met on the basketball court in the last 22 years as the two schools met three times in a six year span from 1988-94. In those three meetings, Edgewood picked up double-digit wins in all three, including an 85-70 win in the last meeting on Jan. 3, 1994.
ABOUT THE EAGLES
Edgewood College is an NCAA Division III program located in Madison, Wisc. The Eagles compete in the Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference and are coming off a 2017-18 season in which they went 10-10 in league play and 11-16 overall. In their first game of the 2018-19 season, EC fell to the University of Dubuque 82-66 on the road.

After picking up a pair of wins over region opponents to start the season, CSP debuted in a tie for 10th in the week one D2CCA Region Poll.
The Golden Bears were one of five NSIC schools picked in the top-10 as they were joined by St. Cloud State, Sioux Falls, Minnesota State and Southwest Minnesota State. SCSU sits at #3 while USF is #4, MSU is #7 and SMSU is #9.
