Honor Wiesner & Kosmoski with a gift designation to new batting cages

Athletic Performance Center batting cages to be named for the late Jim Wiesner & Jed "Kos" Kosmoski

FROM THE DESK OF THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR - "PLEASE HELP HONOR WIESY & KOS"
As many of you know, long time CSP assistant baseball coach Jimmy "Wiesy" Wiesner passed away over Memorial Day weekend.

Jimmy was a mainstay on the CSP baseball staff since 1999, after retiring from his position as the equipment manager for the two-time World Series Champion Minnesota Twins (1987 & 1991). Prior to coming to CSP, Wiesy spent 21 years as the visiting clubhouse manager for the Minnesota Vikings and 36 years with the Twins.

Jimmy was a big part of the two NSIC Championship baseball teams (2003 & 2008), and was influential in the development and character of hundreds of students and staff here at CSP. We all miss him dearly as we begin another school year and our 19th NCAA fall baseball season.
In an effort to honor Wiesy, we are trying to gain the naming rights for an area designated to two batting cages in the new CSP Athletics Performance Center, scheduled for completion in August.

The batting cage area will be used by the baseball and softball teams, as well as the men and women's golf teams. Jimmy will be formally recognized with a plaque or other written designation prominently in the facility in the batting cage area.

Jim Wiesner touched the lives of many throughout his lifetime, and we would like to keep his memory alive by honoring him with a permanent spot at one of his favorite places of all time: the CSP batting cage.

Due to the untimely death of Jed "Kos" Kosmoski being so close to his great friend Jimmy Wiesner's passing, we have decided to dedicate the batting cage area to them both.

Kos called Wiesy every day to check in, and if for any reason Wiesy couldn't make it to the ball park for that day, Kos picked his teammate Jimmy's duties up that day.

Kos had a heart as large as Mount Everest. He was dedicated, reliable and honest, and he always put others first.

Kos recently went to Seattle to visit his sister and watch the Mariners play the Red Sox. During his trip, he came down with Pancreatitis. He passed away Saturday to the surprise of everyone. His immediate family is devastated as is his CSP family.

I miss my little buddy and his pal Jimmy. It's not the same coming into work and not seeing them. Thank you for all of your prayers, love and support.

Our goal is to secure $10,000 for the naming rights. No donation is too small. I am personally donating the first $1,000. We have $9,000 to go to secure the naming rights to the Jimmy Wiesner & Jed Kosmoski Batting Cages Area.

If you are able and would like to help and donate, please do so by sending a check made out in any amount to Concordia Athletics or by making your gift online. Thanks for your consideration.
