RAIN DELAY: Second round NSIC Tournament game against UMD delayed to noon

Golden Bears and Bulldogs will play a second round winner's bracket contest at noon

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - NSIC Baseball Tournament officials have announced that Friday morning's game between 5 Concordia-St. Paul (28-13) and 1 #29 Minnesota Duluth (33-15) has been delayed to a noon start at Joe Faber Field.

The result will also move back the scheduled 1 p.m. between Faber & Putz Fields to tentatively 3 & 7 p.m. at Faber Field. All official game times and field assignments will be available at the tournament website throughout the day.

The Bulldogs swept Concordia in a four game series April 16-17 in Duluth earlier this season. Concordia is 18-26 all-time against UMD but has dropped seven in a row over the last two seasons to the Bulldogs. The last time the teams played in the NSIC Tournament was in 2003, an 8-6 win for CSP in Duluth to capture the NSIC Championship.

Concordia snapped a six game NSIC Tournament losing streak and an eight game playoff losing streak including the two 2008 NCAA Central Region Tournament loss with yesterday's 8-4 first round win over 4 Minnesota State. Among those eight playoff losses in a row, two were at the hands of MSU.

The Golden Bears' previous tournament win was the 2008 NSIC Tournament Championship, a 10-6 win over Wayne State at Pete Chapman Complex in Wayne, Nebraska to earn the program's first NCAA Central Region Tournament appearance.

Concordia's current 28 overall wins is tied for fifth most in a single season in program history and the 20 NSIC wins tied a program record, all achieved under 17th year head coach Mark "Lunch" McKenzie.
