CROOKSTON, Minn. - Officials at Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota Crookston have announced that this weekend's four game baseball series scheduled for UMC Baseball Field has been cancelled due to weather.
Today's cold temperatures didn't cross the minimum threshold until well after the scheduled first pitch of 4 p.m. after the doubleheader had already been reduced to a single 9-inning game due to the forecast. Tomorrow's conditions are expected to be colder, with the wind in northern Minnesota keeping the real feel below freezing.
Concordia's 10-game scheduled road stand is now a six game trip that will send the team to take on #1 St. Cloud State on Wednesday, April 13 before a four game weekend trip to Minnesota Duluth on April 16-17.
The Golden Bears hold a 35-game winning streak against Minnesota Crookston dating back to 2003 and are off the best start in program history in the Northern Sun at 8-1 while matching the best overall start at 15-3 through 18 games.
Concordia has now had eight games cancelled due to the spring weather in the Upper Midwest.
