ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul softball team (12-30, 6-16 NSIC) took a pair of losses on Senior Day against Minot State (15-26, 4-19 NSIC) on Sunday afternoon at Carlander Field.
The Golden Bears honored seniors

Jamie Fleischhacker,
Teona Zepeda and
Frankie Munkwitz on the final weekend home date. Head coach
Bob Bartel also established the
Frankie Munkwitz Award during an on-field ceremony between games.
Minot State 7, Concordia-St. Paul 5
The late-inning luck continued to go against the Golden Bears as the Beavers scored five runs in the final two innings to erase a 5-2 CSP lead to claim game one.
Kyla Larson delivered a big blow with a three-run homer, her second of the game, to tie it up at 5-5 in the sixth before Daniela Carbajal laid down a successful squeeze bunt to put Minot State on top 6-5 heading to the seventh. Larson tacked on another RBI, giving her five on the day, in the seventh to add an insurance run and put the game away.
Carlie Hart had a solid game at the plate for Concordia as she tripled home a run, added a single and scored twice in the loss. Her triple was the only extra base hit in the game for CSP as six of the other eight starters added singles for the Golden Bears.
Minot reliever Jenn Spencer (5-11) collected the win as she pitched three perfect innings with five strikeouts in relief of Alyssa Cornejo.
Linzy Heim (8-16) took the loss for the Golden Bears as she allowed six earned runs and struck out three in the complete game.
The Beavers tapped into the long ball in the first as Clarissa Ramirez took Heim deep as the second hitter of the game to make it 1-0.

Lizzy Swenson drove a single up the middle to bring home
Liz Jarosz before
Elena Koncar added an RBI single bringing in
Carlie Hart to give the Golden Bears a 2-1 advantage.
After Larson tied it up with her first homer in the third, CSP took the lead right back on Hart's RBI triple in the bottom of the inning. A wild pitch allowed her to score as the lead reached 4-2.
The Golden Bears added one more in the fourth as Thompson singled, moving
Kelly McKenzie up a base before a throwing error allowed the fifth run to cross the plate.
That lead held until Larson's three-run drive to center tied it up in the sixth. Later in the inning, Daniela Carbajal put down a perfect bunt down the third base line to bring in Isis Cabral. Larson's RBI single in the seventh brought it to the final score of 7-5.
Minot State 14, Concordia-St. Paul 7
The Beavers jumped ahead early as they scored in each of their first four trips to the plate to cruise to a win in game two to secure the sweep.
Minot State hammered out 14 runs on 16 hits as seven of their nine starters collected at least two hits.
Jenn Spencer (6-11) picked up her second win of the day as she worked the first six innings, allowing five earned runs on six hits before Clarissa Ramirez worked the seventh.
Haley Schanks (4-14) worked all seven innings, striking out a pair as she took the loss for CSP.
Liz Jarosz provided a bright spot at the plate for Concordia as she picked up four runs batted in with three hits, including a double, in the loss.
Lizzy Swenson also had two hits as she drove in two in the game.
The Beavers got off to a fast start in the first as they took advantage of a few CSP miscues as Ashley Hill drove an RBI single and Kyla Larson drove in two more to add to her big day. Alyssa Cornejo added an RBI groundout before the inning was out bring the total to four runs before CSP even stepped up to the plate.
Concordia got one back in the bottom of the inning as
Jamie Fleischhacker led off the inning with a walk before
Liz Jarosz drove a single up the middle later in the inning to bring her home.
Minot State played some small ball in the second as they added four more runs to their advantage. They compiled three singles, a pair of walks and a Concordia error to break it open at 8-1.
After the Beavers added two to their total with a runner scoring on a wild pitch and an RBI groundout in the top of the third, the Golden Bears battled their way back in it in the bottom of the inning. McKenzie and
Emily Shinn both singled and
Justine Schattner drew a walk to load the bases for
Liz Jarosz, who sent a double to the gap to bring in two. Lizzy added a line drive single up the middle later in the inning to bring home two more and cut the deficit to 10-5.
The Beavers chipped in another in the fourth and three more in the seventh before Concordia scored twice in the bottom half of the seventh. With two outs and nobody on, Fleischhacker singled, Shinn was hit by a pitch and
Justine Schattner singled to drive in one before Jarosz grabbed her fourth RBI with a single of her own.
Concordia will look to get back in the win column on Wednesday as they wrap up their home schedule against Sioux Falls.
