ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Concordia-St. Paul softball team (6-14) closed out the non-conference slate at the Apple Market Classic with a pair of losses to Central Missouri and Missouri Southern on Sunday.
Central Missouri 15, Concordia-St. Paul 0 (5 inn.)The Jennies scored in all five innings to hand the Golden Bears a 15-0 loss in the first game of the day on Sunday. Central Missouri was red hot at the plate all game long as they finished with at least two hits in each inning to bring their total to 18 for the game. Seven of the nine starters for UCM registered multi-hit games as all nine reached base at least once.
Justine Schattner picked up one of the two hits for Concordia as she continued her impressive freshman campaign, moving her average to .429 heading into the second game of the day.

Linzy Heim picked up a hit in her first trip to the plate this season while

Jamie Fleischhacker,
Elena Koncar,
Lizzy Swenson and
Carlie Hart all drew walks to round out the offensive output.
After scoring a run on three singles in the first, UCM tacked on a pair more in the second to push it to 3-0 after two. Another run came home in the third before a run-scoring double and a two-run single made it 7-0 in the fourth brought Central Missouri within a run of enacting the mercy rule heading to the fifth.
The big inning for the Jennies came in the fifth as they hung eight on the board, aided by eight hits, including a two-run home run off the bat of Lauren Mabe and a three-run homer off the bat of Allie Dishinger to bring the game to the final margin of 15-0.
Heim (4-5) took the loss as she worked the first four innings before Schanks came in to pitch the fifth.
Missouri Southern 8, Concordia-St. Paul 0 (5 inn.)The Lions came out swinging as they jumped on the Golden Bears with three runs in the first, one in the second and four in the third to pull out of reach.
MSSU finished the game with 11 hits and held CSP off the scoreboard despite committing three errors in the field.
The big hits for Missouri Southern came in the form of a Myranda Stewart three-run shot in the first inning and another three-run shot for Sarah Williams in the third, while Aby Corbett added an RBI double and Angel Badalamenti brought home a run with a sacrifice fly.
Nicole Thompson's infield single in the first proved to be the only hit for Concordia in the game as
Kelly McKenzie and
Elena Koncar also reached via walks.
Linzy Heim (4-6) was the losing pitcher as she worked the first two-plus innings before
Haley Schanks collected the final nine outs of the game.
Concordia opens up NSIC play this week at home as they host Minnesota State on Tuesday as well as Minnesota Duluth on Friday and St. Cloud State on Saturday.
