Weekend road series at Upper Iowa cancelled

Predicted cold and chance of precipitation cause the cancellation

FAYETTE, Iowa - According to athletics officials from both schools, this weekend's three game non-conference series between Concordia-St. Paul (7-2) and host Upper Iowa (4-7) has been cancelled due to predicted weather conditions.

The teams were scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday and a 9-inning game on Sunday with noon start times at Robertson Woods Field for UIU's home opener. With a real-feel temperature of 32 degrees and rain and/or snow in the forecast during gametime hours this weekend, the teams mutually agreed to cancel the series.

Concordia will now prepare to open Northern Sun play on Friday, March 25 and Saturday, March 26 with a four game series against Bemidji State in the Barnes Field 2016 home opener. The home opening weekend starts a 10-game homestand that will welcome BSU and U-Mary for four games each on consecutive weekends followed by a Wednesday afternoon twin bill against Wayne State.

The Golden Bears are ranked seventh in the most recent NCBWA Central Region Top-10 media poll.
