ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul softball team (4-6) wrapped up action in the Kelly Laas Memorial Tournament with a split as they knocked off Emporia State (6-7) 11-4 before falling to #16 Missouri Western State (7-3) 4-1 on Saturday night.

It was a balanced offensive effort as
Carlie Hart,
Justine Schattner,
Liz Jarosz,
Jamie Fleischhacker and
Sarah Kivisto each reached base three times in the game.
Schattner finished the night with three hits in five trips, including a double, with three RBI while Jarosz also went 3-5 with two doubles and a pair driven in.
Carlie Hart played a role in five runs as she drove in three and scored twice in an impressive performance while
Nicole Thompson also drove in two and scored twice.
Linzy Heim (3-1) picked up the win for CSP as she threw a complete game, allowing four runs on eight hits while striking out four in the win.
#16 Missouri Western State 4, Concordia-St. Paul 1MWSU starter Janie Smith limited the Golden Bears to just five hits and one run in the late game as she racked up nine strikeouts in the win.
Nicole Thompson delivered the lone run-scoring hit as she roped a double to left center to bring in
Carlie Hart in the top of the third.
Hart added a single along with
Justine Schattner,
Liz Jarosz and
Kelly McKenzie to round out the hits for the Golden Bears.
Shelbie Atwell led the Griffons as she went a perfect 3-3 with a walk, a pair of RBI and a run scored in the winning effort.
Haley Schanks (1-5) went the distance in the circle for Concordia as she allowed four runs in six innings of work as she struck out two on the night.
Concordia returns to St. Cloud next weekend to take on Bemidji State for two games along with Minnesota Crookston and Minot State for a game each.
