ST. PAUL, Minn. - With Concordia-St. Paul women's and men's basketball tipping off the regular season away from home this weekend, meet the teams through the Hoops Madness event that was held October 20 at Gangelhoff Center.
The event is tailored at student engagement while introducing the basketball teams to the public shortly after the teams conduct their first in-season practice sessions.
The only player to repeat as a competition champion was sophomore
Anna Schmitt, who topped Shay Jones in the women's skill competition. Other defending event champions, two-time three-point shootout winner
Matt Ambriz and reigning slam dunk champion
Cole Peters were unseated.
Avan Ward topped
Lexi Lee for the three-point shootout victory and
OC Omoregie defeated
Diallo Powell in the slam dunk contest finals.

Men's basketball will play three games in San Juan, Puerto Rico where they'll face P.R.-Bayamon, P.R.-Rio Piedras and the University of Metropolitana. The women's team will play a pair of regional road games at Central Missouri on Friday and at #12 Pittsburg State on Saturday in a tour of strong MIAA opposition.
The first chance to catch regular season basketball at home will be the men's team hosting Bemidji State on November 17 at 6 p.m. with the women making their first appearance at Gangelhoff Center in the Radisson Hotel Minneapolis St. Paul North Classic against Concordia-Portland and Jamestown on November 25-26 at 4 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
