BISMARCK, N.D. - Concordia-St. Paul (12-12, 10-6 NSIC) picked up two comeback wins at U-Mary (3-27, 1-15 NSIC) at Municipal Ballpark on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Bears pulled out a 4-2 win in game one before claiming game two 5-4. The Golden Bears trailed heading into the final two innings in each game before pulling out the wins.
GAME 1: Concordia 4, U-Mary 2The Golden Bears scored one in the sixth and two in the seventh to rally from behind for another late inning win.
Junior catcher
David Henke hit an RBI infield single to third base in the sixth inning as Concordia put together three consecutive singles with two outs to tie the game for the second time.
In the seventh,
Kyle Dalton led off with a single and stole second base on strike three for the second out, but got himself in scoring position on the play. The stolen base would prove critical as
Connor Olson delivered an RBI single up the middle to score Dalton from second base for the go-ahead run.
Adam Hildebrandt pinch ran for Olson and would score as
Eric Fasnacht stole second with the errant throw from the plate allowing Hildebrandt to trot home for a two run lead.
Junior left handed starting pitcher
Zach Rengel allowed the tying run to get on base with one out in the bottom of the inning, but struck out the 8-9 hitters for U-Mary swinging to pick up the complete game win.
Rengel started the day dominating U-Mary's hitters, retiring the first eight batters he faced including a pair of strikeouts. U-Mary's ninth batter Trenten Hove delivered a home run over the field fence to break up his perfection with two outs in the third.
Concordia tied the game quickly in the top of the fourth with three straight one out singles with Fasnacht delivering the scoring single through the left side, bringing home Shotwell.
Dalton, Shotwell and Olson each went 2-4 in the game to lead the Golden Bear offense. Dalton and Fasnacht each had a stolen base, Dalton's sixth and Fasnacht's fourth of the year.
Rengel finished the day allowing two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and two walks to improve to 3-1 on the year.
McKeon Meyhoff took the loss for the Marauders, falling to 0-6 as he pitched into the seventh inning. He allowed four runs (three earned) on 10 hits with eight strikeouts and a walk in 6.2 innings.
Brett Doepker led U-Mary by going 2-3 while Hove's home run was his second of the year.
GAME 2: Concordia 5, U-Mary 4Concordia once again played from behind before turning it around late to grab a big victory. CU trailed by as many as three at 4-1 before claiming the 5-4 win.

Eric Fasnacht tied the game in the eighth with a solo homer, his team-leading fifth of the year, and
Connor Olson drew a bases loaded walk in the seventh to give Concordia the decisive advantage.

Alex LaPorte got the rally started in the seventh with a single and
Kyle Dalton sacrificed him over to second to put him in scoring position.
Joe Muench then drew a walk before both runners moved up on a wild pitch.
Andrew Shotwell walked to load the bases to set the stage before Olson drew the third walk of the inning to score the go-ahead run.

The Golden Bears struck first as they got a little bit of help from the Marauders.
Tyler Krekling and
Andrew Shotwell each drew one out walks before
Connor Olson hit a grounder to second. Olson hustled down the line to keep U-Mary from turning two on the play and forced and errant throw from the shortstop that resulted in Krekling coming across to score.

The lead wouldn't last, though, as the Marauders tied it up with a run in the third before taking the lead with three in the fifth. Trenton Hove and Seth Meide delivered singles with one down to put runners on the corners to start the rally in the third. The Golden Bears appeared to avoid the threat as they sniffed out a double steal attempt and pegged Hove at the plate as he tried to score, but an error with two down allowed Meide to score from second.

U-Mary put runners on the corners to open the fifth before Seth Meide gave them the lead with a sacrifice fly. Ethan Meide followed with a double and Hennen walked to load the bases. Drew Feuerbach came through with a big two-run single to extend the lead to 4-1 before Concordia starter
Kevin Woebke coaxed an inning-ending double play to work out of the jam.

Concordia got two runs back in the top of the sixth as
Andrew Shotwell got the inning started with a double before coming around to score on a fielder's choice with the bases loaded off the bat of
Ryan Poppitz. Olson, who reached on a single to right, also came across the plate to score on a wild pitch later in the inning.

Woebke followed it up with a scoreless sixth before being lifted for a reliever. He worked 6.0 innings while allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits while striking out seven.

Yuji Suzuki was excellent out of the bullpen as he picked up the win with 3.0 shutout innings in which he allowed just one hit and struck out five. He had a bit of a scare in the bottom of the seventh as he saw U-Mary put runners on second and third with two down, but he struck out Cla Bassingthwaithe to end the game.

Concordia will go for the sweep tomorrow against the Marauders as the two teams play games three and four in the series. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
