Men's basketball hosts Upper Iowa & Winona State in final regular season home action

Senior night on Saturday highlights big weekend of games

ST. PAUL, Minn. - This weekend, the men's basketball team (15-9, 11-7 NSIC) plays its final home regular season games against Upper Iowa (14-10, 10-8 NSIC) on Friday at 8 p.m. and Winona State (11-11, 8-10 NSIC) on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Gangelhoff Center. The weekend will be highlighted by Saturday's senior night approximately 20 minutes before the men's tip-off, immediately after the women's game against WSU.

The weekend is key for the Golden Bears (11-7), who hold a one game lead over Upper Iowa (10-8) and three game lead over Winona State (8-10) and SMSU (8-10) with four games to play for the third seed in the South Division for the NSIC Sanford Health Basketball Tournament. The top four teams in each division earn first round home contests before winning first round teams advance to the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D. for the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship. First round games would be played on Wednesday, February 25 at campus sites.

The Golden Bears play at SMSU next Friday night before closing out the regular season at Sioux Falls (5-13) while Winona State and Upper Iowa play home games against #2 Augustana (17-1) and Wayne State (2-16) next weekend.

The Golden Bears are 10-2 at home on the season, entertaining a Peacocks team that is 4-6 on the road and a Warriors team searching for its first road win of the year with an 0-9 road record and a trip to Minnesota State slated for Friday night.
