MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Concordia Golden Bears volleyball team (15-4, 9-2 NSIC) picked up a sweep on the road at MSU Moorhead (12-7, 5-6 NSIC) on Saturday night to close out the weekend with a split.
Concordia rattled off their 26
th consecutive win dating back to 2001 against the Dragons in the all-time series as they improved to 26-8 overall against MSUM. CSP is now 12-3 in 15 trips to Moorhead.
The Golden Bears were impressive both offensively and defensively as they hit .385 as a team and held the Dragons to just .099. It marked the first time all season that CSP hit above .300 and held their opponent below .100 in the same match.
Concordia once again dominated at the net with 10.0 blocks on the night as MSUM had just 4.0.
Emma Lange paced all players as she matched her career best with eight blocks.
Riley Hanson and
Heather Schiller also added five and four, respectively.
Anna Schlaak and
Emily McDonough matched each other shot-for-shot as they both finished with a match-high 13 kills to go along with 10 digs apiece in double-double efforts. Schlaak hit .571 while McDonough hit .324.
Riley Hanson was even more impressive as she had an amazing .833 hitting percentage with 11 kills in just 12 attempts as she nearly had a perfect day hitting. Her mark of .833 would have set a career high if it qualified.

Abby Wolpern led the Dragons with nine kills and Amber Krenske had a match-best 17 digs for MSUM.
The Dragons came out with a burst as they used an early 3-0 run to build a 6-4 lead as they looked to take control. The Golden Bears had different ideas as they claimed six of the next seven points to take the lead for good in opening set. MSUM battled back to pull even at 12, but an 11-3 run in favor of CSP put it out of reach at 23-15. The Dragons scratched to back within five before Concordia closed out the set 25-19.
The second set was all Concordia as the Golden Bears claimed nine of the first 10 points to set the tone. The lead continued to grow from there as it reached double digits at 13-3 before ballooning to as large as 14 at 21-7. The lead stayed above 10 the rest of the set as Concordia took a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-13 set win.
Concordia's bid to end the match in three sets appeared to be in danger early in the third set as MSUM took four of the first five points to build a quick three point advantage. The lead eventually reached four at 11-7 and again at 12-8 for the Dragons before a 5-0 run in favor of CSP put the Golden Bears up 13-12. Concordia wouldn't trail the rest of the way as they put it out of reach with six straight points to make it 23-17. The Golden Bears closed out the match with that same six point margin with a 25-19 set win to complete the sweep.
The Golden Bears are back in action on Tuesday night as they make the trip south to Minnesota State for a midweek meeting. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
