ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia-St. Paul (11-6, 7-4 NSIC) returns home after a 4-game road set to host Sioux Falls (7-11, 4-8 NSIC) on Friday night at 8 p.m. and Southwest Minnesota State (9-9, 5-7 NSIC) on Saturday night at 6 p.m. at Gangelhoff Center. A series of promotions and events will be held for the weekend set.
The games will be centered around the Northern Sun's "It's a Slam Dunk, Don't Drive Drunk" campaign in which all spectators will be encouraged to pledge not to drive drunk. This year's event will not be centered around a video submission contest by the league's 16 members and their Student-Athlete Advisory Committees, but instead will focus on the campaign for pledges. Last year, the Concordia SAAC group led by assistant athletic director
Regan McAthie developed the winning video which was produced by Wass Productions.
In addition to the "It's a Slam Dunk, Don't Drive Drunk" initiative, Friday night's game will be Navy Night with the first 75 CSP students dressed in navy receiving free Green Mill pizza at the game. On Saturday, the promotions staff from the Minnesota Timberwolves will be on hand to conduct several contests and giveaways.
On the floor, Concordia brings a three game winning streak back home, defeating Wayne State, Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State all on the road. Overall, Concordia has won six of its last seven contests and will defend a strong homecourt advantage with a 7-1 home record on the year that includes a win over #10 Minnesota State in December.
Meanwhile, the Golden Bears will entertain a pair of teams looking to snap losing streaks as Sioux Falls has dropped four in a row with SMSU on a 5-game skid.
Concordia looks to remain hot, sitting in third place in the NSIC South Division and in fifth overall in the 16-team Northern Sun.
