ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia-St. Paul head softball coach
Bob Bartel announced that this week's softball doubleheader against Southwest Minnesota State has been moved to Tuesday, April 21st at 2:00 p.m. at Carlander Field.
The games were originally scheduled to be played on Wednesday, April 22nd, rain in the forcast moved it up a day.
The Golden Bears will look to get back on track after being swept this weekend by Augustana and Wayne State. On Friday, Augie grabbed the sweep with a 10-3 first game win and an 8-1 game two win. On Saturday, Wayne State knocked off the Golden Bears 5-1 and 7-0. CU now sits in the ninth spot in the standings, one spot out of the NSIC Tournament. At 10-14 the Golden Bears trail Minnesota Duluth, who is 7-6, for the final playoff spot.
Bekah Roth has continued to be a constant stabilizing force in the CU lineup throughout the season. The senior has been moved around the diamond due to injuries and has managed to hit .438 in 24 NSIC constests, ranking seventh in the league. She also ranks first in doubles (9) second in hits (35), fourth in total bases (54) and eighth in slugging percentage (.494). Roth also leads the team with 39 RBI on the season and now ranks seventh in CU history with 111. Her .315 career average also ranks 10th.
Southwest Minnesota State enters the series riding a six game losing streak. In that stretch, the Mustangs have been held to just six runs over that six game span, including three shutouts. This past weekend, SMSU dropped a pair of games to Upper Iowa on Friday and Winona State on Saturday. UIU took the first game 2-1 and the second game 7-3. WSU claimed the two wins on Saturday by scores of 6-0 and 8-2.
