The Concordia University softball team (3-11) is set to close out the non-conference season with six games in the Missouri Western Softball Invitational this weekend.

Teams from the throughout the NCAA Division II Softball Central Region will converge on St. Joseph this weekend as Griffon Softball hosts the MWSU Softball Invitational.  Six teams from the MIAA and six from the Northern Sun Conference will compete at both the MWSU Spring Sports Complex and Heritage Park Softball Complex over the three days.
 
Heritage Park Softball Complex is located at 2202 Waterworks Road and features four fields, three of which will be used for tournament play.  The complex has hosted numerous national tournaments including the 2010 NCAA Division II Softball National Championship.

The Golden Bears open up play on Friday with games against Northwest Missouri State at 10 a.m. and Pittsburg State at 2 p.m. They take on Washburn at 10 a.m. and Missouri Southern State at 2 p.m. on Saturday before closing the tournament with Missouri Western State at 11 a.m. and Central Missouri at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.

After going hitless in the first two games of the year, Alicia Meiser has strung together a nine-game hitting streak to push her batting average to a team-best .350. During that stretch, Meiser collected five multi-hit games and has a gone 14-34 (.412).

Senior Bekah Roth continued her solid start to the year in Florida as she improved her batting average to .283. She now has a home run and a team-high 12 RBI.

The Golden Bears have a quick turnaround as they open up conference play next Wednesday against Minnesota State at the Savage Sports Center.
