ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia-St. Paul men's basketball team (4-8, 1-7 NSIC) checked an important item off its list last weekend, snapping a six game skid while picking up its first NSIC win. This weekend, the squad looks for its first road win with a trip to MSU Moorhead on Friday night at 8 p.m. at Nemzek Hall and Northern State on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Wachs Arena in Aberdeen, S.D.
A win for the Golden Bears moves head coach Kelly Boe into second place outright on the all-time coaching wins list for the program. He's currently tied with John Hendrickson (1973-84) with 104 career wins.
Another milestone is now within reach as junior guard
Terez VanPelt is 50 points shy of the 1,000 point milestone. VanPelt is aiming to become the 16th player in program history, seventh in the Division II era (1999-present) and first since Mike Cunningham in 2009-10 to join the 1,000-point club. He's topped 20-points in a game four times this year, with season-highs of 28 and 24 - both in NSIC games - putting the milestone within reach with a big weekend. If he plays to his season average, the milestone will be attainable with Concordia's next home weekend on Jan. 17-18 against Wayne State and Augustana.
