Golden Bears beat #21 Wingate in straight sets Sunday afternoon
Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia University volleyball team (4-1) finished off the Holiday Inn & Suites Lake Elmo Classic with a win over #21 Wingate (3-2) in straight sets in a rematch of last year's NCAA quarterfinals Sunday afternoon.  Concordia finished up the tournament with wins over three ranked opponents in the tough tournament field.

Concordia dominated play early and often, jumping out to a 16-3 lead in the first set en route to a 25-9 set win.  Concordia hit a scintillating .515 in the first set, led by freshman Riley Hanson's six kills on six attacks.

Wingate came out strong in the second, holding an early 9-7 lead.  The Golden Bears battled back to regain the lead and took a hard fought second set 25-19.  Hanson once again led the Bears with five kills.  Sophomore Kasey Williams contributed 16 assists in the set.

The third set started off close with Wingate cutting the Golden Bear lead to 10-8 on an Anna Hilton kill.  Concordia stepped on the gas to score 15 of the next 18 points to finish the match with a 25-11 set win.  Erienne Lauersdorf was a perfect 4-4 on her attacks in the final set.

Riley Hanson finished the day with 14 kills while hitting .722.  She finished the tournament second on the team with 47 kills and hit a team high .444.  Lauersdorf had 12 kills to tie her career high set last night against Indianapolis and sophomore Heather Schiller also added 10 kills.  Kasey Williams finished the match one assist off her career high with 46.  She finished the tournament with 212 assists for an average of 13.38 per set.

Concordia hits the road next weekend to play in the Colorado Premier Challenge and open up with a match against Florida Southern at 1:00 p.m.
