ST. PAUL, Minn. – The #1 Concordia Golden Bears volleyball team (3-1) got back to their winning ways with a three set win over the #9 University of Indianapolis Greyhounds (1-3) on Saturday night in a rematch of the 2009 NCAA Elite Eight in St. Paul.

Indianapolis battled the Golden Bears throughout the first set, taking their only lead at 17-16 after a four point run. Concordia answered back with a four point run, grabbing a 20-17 advantage. The Greyhounds would get it back to 23-22 before a pair of attack errors gave the Golden Bears a 25-22 set win. Indianapolis' Hailey Brown led all hitters with five kills in the first set as
Kayla Koenecke (Delano, Minn. ) and
Erienne Lauersdorf (Watertown, Wis. ) each had four for CU.
In the second set the Golden Bears used an eight point run to break a 4-4 tie and put the lead out of reach. CU would go on to win the match by a score of 25-14. Koenecke added seven more kills in the second.
Concordia was able to finish off the Greyhounds in the third set by a score of 25-9, holding Indianapolis to -.111 hitting in the third.
Koenecke paced the Golden Bear attack with 15 kills while hitting an efficient .464 in the match. She completed the double-double by adding 15 digs. Senior hitter
Erienne Lauersdorf set a career high with 12 kills.
Kasey Williams (Cross Plains, Wis.) was solid again filling in for the injured All-American
Amanda Konetchy (Victoria, Minn. ) picking up 38 assists and 15 digs.
Hailey Brown was the only Greyhound player in double figures for kills with 12.
Concordia concludes the Holiday Inn and Suites Lake Elmo Classic with a 1:00 p.m. match against #21 Wingate University (3-1) tomorrow. Watch the game live or follow live stats on the links above.
