Concordia plays host to Minnesota State Tuesday night
ST. PAUL, Minn. - The #2 Concordia University volleyball team (10-1, 2-0 NSIC) is set to play host to Minnesota State (6-3, 2-0 NSIC) in a battle between two unbeaten teams in conference play.  The Golden Bear and the Mavericks split the season series last year with each team winning on their home court.  The teams are joined at 2-0 with Minnesota Duluth, Northern State, St. Cloud State and Southwest Minnesota State.

The Golden Bears come into the match having won 16 consecutive NSIC regular season matches, dating back to a 3-1 loss in Duluth to the Bulldogs on September 28, 2012.  Concordia extended long winning streaks against both their opponents this weekend.  Concordia is 13-0 all-time against Upper Iowa and 24-7 against WSU, having won 22 straight against the Warriors.  CU has won eight matches in a row overall.  Senior Kayla Koenecke (Delano, Minn. ) currently leads the Golden Bears with 3.69 kills per game and has a hitting percentage of .449.  Senior Erienne Lauersdorf (Watertown, Wis. ) has 13 of CU's 45 aces on the season.

The Mavericks are also coming off a weekend sweep of Winona State and Upper Iowa.  MSU took care of the Warriors on straight sets, but were taken to five sets by the Peacocks.  Junior Jenna McNallan has a team-high 97 kills (2.77 per game) to lead the Mavericks.  Setter Ellie Van De Steeg has registered 342 assists, just shy of 10 per game at 9.77.

Concordia remains at home this weekend for a pair of matches with two more unbeaten teams, #1 Minnesota Duluth on Friday at 7 p.m. and St. Cloud State on Saturday at 4 p.m.
