Box Score WINONA, Minn. – The #2 Concordia University volleyball team (10-1, 2-0 NSIC) completed the weekend sweep with a straight set victory over the Winona State Warriors (3-8, 0-2 NSIC). The Golden Bears extended their win streak to 22 over the Warriors. CU has now won 16 consecutive NSIC regular season matches.
The Warriors hung with the Golden Bears early in the first set, cutting the CU lead to 11-9 on a kill from Alli Glisch. Concordia responded by scoring the next 10 points to put the game away. CU took the set 25-12. The Golden Bears held the Warriors to just -.041 hitting in the first.
The Golden Bears held a lead for the entire set after falling behind 1-0 and didn't allow WSU to get any closer than two at 17-15 and won the set 25-19.
Kayla Koenecke (Delano, Minn. ) had six kills in the set to lead the Golden Bears attack.
Concordia bounced back from a 5-4 deficit in the third to finish off the match with a 25-14 win in the final set. Koenecke once again paced the Golden Bears with six kills in the set.
Koenecke finished the night with a double-double with 15 kills and 13 digs.
Emily McDonough (Stillwater, Minn. ) had a nice match with seven kills and a .412 hitting percentage to go along with 14 digs.
Taylor Dordan (Blaine, Minn.) led CU with 19 digs. Setter
Amanda Konetchy (Victoria, Minn. ) finished the match just shy of a double-double with 35 assists and eight digs.
Concordia will continue conference play next week with three home matches against Minnesota State on Tuesday, #1 Minnesota Duluth on Friday and St. Cloud State on Saturday.
