Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia Golden Bears volleyball team (9-1, 1-0 NSIC) extended their winning streak to seven in a 3-0 sweep of the Upper Iowa Peacocks (4-6, 0-1 NSIC).  The Golden Bears are now 13-0 all-time against the Peacocks and have won 12 straights conference home matches overall.

Concordia took the first eight points of the match to take control of the first set early.  The Golden Bears hit .571 in the set to cruise to a 25-10 win. Concordia's defense was stifling in the set, holding the Peacocks to just -.069 hitting.  Kayla Koenecke (Delano, Minn. ) had five kills in the first set on just five attempts in the set.

The second set was a bit closer in the early going with Upper Iowa only trailing by three at 10-7.  Concordia responded with 15 of the next 20 points to take the second 25-12.  Koenecke led the way with five more kills to reach double digits for the match.

The Golden Bears took care of business again in the third set, holding a comfortable lead throughout.  CU finished off the sweep with a 25-13 set win.  Heather Schiller (Coon Rapids, Minn.) led the charge in the final set with five kills and Amanda Konetchy (Victoria, Minn. ) had 16 assists in the set.

Koenecke was the only Golden Bear in double digits in kills with 13 while also picking up eight digs.  Riley Hanson (Nevis, Minn.) had an efficient nine kills on just 12 attempts en route to a .667 hitting percentage.  Konetchy was back in the lineup after missing a few sets against Tampa last weekend and had 41 assists and helped guide the Golden Bear offense to a .376 attack percentage.  Kara Pioske (Waconia, Minn. ) and Kara Pioske (Waconia, Minn. ) each had 11 digs to lead the Golden Bears.

The Golden Bears continue their NSIC opening weekend this Saturday at Winona State (3-6). The Warriors also open conference play tonight with a match against Minnesota State.  Live stats and video will be available for the match.
