ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia-St. Paul softball coach
Bob Bartel has announced that this weekend's road trip to face U-Mary and Minot State in North Dakota has been canceled due to poor weather conditions, and that next Tuesday's doubleheader against Upper Iowa has been relocated to UIU's campus in Fayette, Iowa due to St. Paul forecast and field conditions.
The weekend cancellation wipes out four games from Concordia's schedule which pushes the season total to 13 games. While Concordia's doubleheader against Upper Iowa has been moved to UIU's campus and will be counted as home games for the Peacocks in terms of location, the Golden Bears will still serve as the home team on the field (will bat second) for each contest.
Concordia is 22-8 overall and 9-3 tied for fourth in the Northern Sun with Minnesota Duluth. Upper Iowa is 18-12 overall and 5-5 in the conference, tied for ninth. UIU defeated Concordia 7-0 earlier season at the RCTC Dome on February 24. Since then, Concordia is 18-3 while UIU is 14-9.
Coach Bartel is also just four wins shy of reaching 300 for his career, with a 296-177 career record in his ninth season as head coach. In his career, Bartel is 17-4 against the Peacocks while Concordia is 18-5 all-time against UIU. The Peacocks have won the last two meetings in the series, though.
