MINNEAPOLIS - Concordia-St. Paul (7-5) right handed pitchers

GAME 1: Concordia 4, Winona State 1
Kramer took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before allowing a leadoff single as the only hit over 6.0 innings. He struck out six and walked three while improving to 2-1 with a 2.12 ERA on the year.
Left hander
Griff Kilber (Chanhassen, Minn.) finally allowed a run in his fifth appearance after working 12.0 shutout inning to start his senior year, but finished the game to preserve the win in a non-save situation.
Concordia's offense was paced by the 9-1-2 hitters in the lineup as senior
Paul Giel III (Minnetonka, Minn.) went 3-3 with an RBI double along with a pair of runs scored. Freshman
Eric Fasnacht (Eden Prairie, Minn.) went 3-3 with a walk and an RBI triple out of the leadoff spot and sophomore
Kyle Dalton (Minnetonka, Minn.) was 2-4 with an RBI double out of the second spot in the order.
Concordia's first run came in the third inning, an RBI single up the middle by
Drew Turk (Plainfield, Ill.), scoring Giel with two outs. In the fourth, Giel slugged a double to left center on the first pitch offering to score
Mick Sawinski (St. Louis Park, Minn.) with two outs.
Concordia added two insurance runs in the sixth inning, with Fasnacht's triple scoring Giel, and Dalton's double scoring Fasnacht.
The Warriors reached scoring position three times against Kramer, twice in the second inning. He picked off Cody Strang from second base for the second out of the second inning, and after a two-out hit by pitch, was able to induce a ground out to end the inning. In the sixth, Kramer gave up a leadoff single and a one-out walk and was faced with runners on first and second with one out. He struck out the final two batters he'd face, ending with 92 pitches in the game.
The Warriors stranded runners on second and third in the seventh inning against Kilber, leaving the tying run at the plate.
In addition to the doubles by Dalton and Giel and the triple by Fasnacht, freshman
Ryan Poppitz (Plymouth, Minn.) delivered a double for his first career hit.
GAME 2: Concordia 3, Winona State 1
Concordia started strong in the second game, as
Greg Larpenter (Urbandale, Iowa) lined a one-out double to right center to move Dalton to third base. Turk followed with an RBI ground out to put Concordia ahead 1-0.
Concordia added runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take a 3-0 lead, using TJ Obermeyer's two-out single up the middle in the fourth to score Larpenter with
Trevon Bargfrede (Jackson, Minn.) scoring the third run on a wild pitch in the fifth.
Fagely was in trouble early, stranding a two-out double in the first and leaving runners on first and third in the second inning. He calmed down after that, with just a pair of two-out singles over the next three innings as he worked quickly.
In the sixth, the Warriors had a pair of singles to start the inning with a sacrifice bunt moving the runners to second and third with one out. He picked up a second out on a sacrifice fly which would be WSU's only run, and retired the last batter of the inning on a liner to center field to strand the runner on second.
Fagely needed only 74 pitches to work 6.0 innings, allowing a run on six hits. He didn't strike any Warriors out but only walked one.
Redshirt freshman
Tyler Brekke (Lakeville, Minn.) saved the game in his first appearance of the year. It was his first appearance in a game since the 2012 spring trip in which he suffered a season ending injury. Brekke was excellent in his 2013 debut, using eight pitches in a perfect inning with a strikeout.
In game two, four of the team's six runners left on base were in scoring position, while the Wariors had three of its six left on base in scoring position.
Larpenter was 1-1 in the second game with his first double of the year. He was also hit by pitch twice and has now reached base safely (H, BB, HBP) in all 12 games this season. Dalton was 0-2 with a walk and a run in the game, and has now reached base safely in nine straight games.
Concordia returns to action for the opening of the Northern Sun's conference season next Saturday and Sunday, March 23-24 at Veterans Field in Minnetonka, Minn. against Minot State. Games start at 1:30 on Saturday and noon on Sunday.
