ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia-St. Paul men's basketball (9-15, 7-13 NSIC) rolls into the final weekend of regular season play at home against Southwest Minnesota State (15-12, 12-8) on Friday night and University of Sioux Falls (11-13, 7-13) on Saturday in the finale.
Friday night's game is also Play 4Kay to raise funds for the fight against breast cancer. The event will feature a raffle drawing for prizes donated from Joe Senser's and Radisson Hotel-Roseville. Each person that brings an item from the
Hope Lodge Winter Wish List will be entered in the drawing. All proceeds from the drawing will benefit Play 4Kay.
Saturday is senior night as the Golden Bears will honor the three seniors:
Zach Towle,
Nick Mabbutt and
Isaiah Thomas prior to the game, along with the Dennis Getzlaff Memorial Scholarship presentation before starting lineups.
The Golden Bears are looking to defend the longest active winning streak in the Northern Sun, having won five-straight games including three straight wins over teams with winning records. Concordia is 6-1 in the last seven games which coincides with the insertion of junior
Cordell Smith into the starting five.
With Concordia and Sioux Falls tied for seventh in the NSIC South Division standings, the teams will be vying for the higher seed this weekend in the
NSIC/Sanford Health Basketball Tournament. Whoever finishes the weekend with more wins will take the seventh seed and play either Northern State or Bemidji State on the road in the first round, and whoever finishes in eighth will play at the top seed in the North, #22 St. Cloud State.
