IOWA CITY, Iowa.
- The Concordia University women's basketball team dropped their final exhibition game by a score of 92-68 against Division I University of Iowa on Sunday afternoon at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

The Golden Bears went 1-1 in their two exhibition games after their 79-71 overtime win over UW-Superior on Thursday night.  The Hawkeyes shot a scintillating 57.1% from the field for the game.

Concordia kept it close in the early minutes when a three from Anika Whiting and a layup Amanda Barton cut the lead to 12-10 just over four minutes in.  Iowa used an 8-0 run to push the lead to double digits at 20-10 and they didn't look back.  Concordia wouldn't get it any closer than eight at 33-25 as the Hawkeyes slowly expanded the lead.  Iowa pushed it all the way out to 18 in the first half and went into the locker room with a 16 point lead at 51-35.

The Hawkeyes shot an incredible 60.6% from the field and 44.4% from three as the Golden Bears were held to just 36.8% shooting and 18.2% from beyond the arc by their Big Ten opponent.

Iowa came out in the second half and outscored CU 30-11 in the first ten minutes to grab a 35 point lead, biggest of the game, at 81-46.  The Golden Bears would trim 11 off that lead to finish the game with a 92-68 score.

Anika Whiting led CU with 16 points on 6-8 shooting and eight boards while Carissa Wolyniec joined her in double digits with 13 points of her own.  Amanda Barton gave some good minutes off the bench with eight points and five boards for the Golden Bears as well.

Bethany Doolittle scored a game-high 20 points on an efficient 10-16 from the field while Melissa Dixon chipped in 18 points on 6-8 shooting an 4-5 from three for the Hawkeyes.

Concordia assistant coach Kachine Alexander returned to Carver-Hawkeye Arena. She starred for the Hawkeyes from 2008-11. Despite playing guard, Alexander is second on Iowa's all-time rebounding list with 910. She is 19th in career scoring with 1,239 points.
"It's great to see her going to coaching," Iowa head coach Lisa Bluder said. "I love to see our young women go on into this career, it's a wonderful career. I'm glad that they enjoy their experience so much that they want to continue in basketball and continue giving back to the game. Kachine always had a tremendous basketball mind. She loved learning about the game and she is going to be a tremendous coach."

Concordia opens up the regular season this Friday in Anaheim, Calif. for the Disney Tip-Off Classic.  Tip-off is at 3:30 p.m. as they take on California State-East Bay.
