Concordia falls to the Peacocks in their season finale

FAYETTE, Iowa. - The Concordia University soccer team (5-13, 4-11 NSIC) concluded the regular season on Sunday afternoon against the Upper Iowa Peacocks (14-4, 12-3 NSIC) with a 4-0 loss.  The Peacocks received three first half goals from three different players as the Golden Bears were unable to answer.  CU finishes the season in 12th place in the NSIC with 12 points.

Both teams were able to put some pressure on in an up and down first half with a combined 21 shots, 15 on goal, between the two teams.  Senior Kayla Kuczaboski made her final start in net and made eight saves in the first half to keep the lead for UIU at 3-0. Concordia had several good scoring chances but were unable to capitalize as Upper Iowa goalie Amanda Smith saved all four shots on net.

The Peacocks struck first in the 12th minute on a beautiful shot from Aimee Wronski from 26 yards out that hit the crossbar and went in.  Three minutes later Madie Edwards made a move around the Concordia defense and buried it from eight yards out to put UIU up 2-0.  The third goal came on a feed from Brianne Fenton to Kali Loescher on the right side of the net as she put it over Kuczaboski's head and into the net.

The second half continued the fast paced play with nine more shots for UIU and five more for CU.  Goalie Amanda Smith was put to work and forced to earn her shutout by making seven saves.

Madie Edwards picked up her second goal of the game in the 58th minutes as Kayla Kuczaboski was pulled out of position on an Upper Iowa rush.  Edwards put in it from 14 yards out for her 10th of the year.

Kayla Kuczaboski fell to 4-6 and finished her career third all-time in school history with 12 wins and fifth in saves with 152.

Chloe Moore wrapped up her career as the all-time leader in minutes played in a Golden Bear uniform with 5651.  She had eight goals and five assists in her career.
