ST. PAUL, Minn. - The #9 Concordia University women's basketball team (2-1) is set to play host in the Radisson Roseville Basketball Classic this weekend. The first game begins at 5:00 p.m. tonight as MSU Moorhead (1-0) takes on Wisconsin-Parkside (2-0). Concordia then takes on #21 Michigan Tech (0-0) in a battle of two ranked teams at 7:00 p.m. Play resumes on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. as MSU Moorhead and Michigan Tech in the first game of the day before the Golden Bears take on UW-Parkside at 5:00 p.m.
Last year, the Golden Bears went 1-1 in the tournament with a 75-73 loss to William Penn and a 71-51 win over Nebraska-Kearney. Northern State was the only team to go 2-0. NSU's Rachel Krogman was named the Tournament MVP and was joined by teammate Alison Kusler as well as CU's

Last weekend, Concordia flew out to Anaheim, Calif. to take part in the CCA Tip-Off Classic. The Golden Bears got their regular season schedule under way on Friday afternoon with a 73-61 win over Cal State-East Bay. CU built a 20 point second half lead after a tight first half as they claimed their first win of the year. On Saturday, Concordia improved to 2-0 with a 68-62 win over Pittsburg State. The Golden Bears ran out to an early 15 point lead against PSU and held on for a six point win after a late run got the Gorillas back in it. #5 Emporia State handed Concordia their first loss of the season with a 72-51 win on Sunday. The Lady Hornets held CU to just 31.1% shooting and out-rebounded the Golden Bears 52-30.
Junior forward Anika Whiting averaged 14.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game on 35.1% shooting and a perfect 15-15 from the free throw line in the Tip-Off Classic. Whiting got her season off to a solid start as she scored 15+ points in two of the three games including her first double-double of the season against California State-East Bay on Friday with 15 points and 11 boards.
The MSU Moorhead Dragons come into the tournament off an 81-64 win over Mayville State in their opener. Morgan Zabel double-doubled with a team-high 23 points and 11 rebounds in the game.
Wisconsin-Parkside holds a 2-0 record with wins over Lake Superior State and Upper Iowa. Through two games, Tara Knapstein and Gaby Bronson lead the Rangers with 16.0 PPG.
This weekend will mark the beginning of the season for the Michigan Tech Huskies. The Huskies were ranked 21st in the preseason poll after finishing 21-9 last season. Kylie Moxley is the leading returner in scoring after averaging 9.7 points per game last season.
