Concordia soccer looks to get back on track at Augie and WSC

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia University soccer team (3-7-0, 2-5-0) look to get back to winning ways this weekend with trips to Augustana (7-3-0, 5-2-0 NSIC) and Wayne State (1-8-1, 1-5-1 NSIC).  Concordia currently sits in 12th place in the NSIC with six points.

Concordia dropped a pair of 2-1 matches to U-Mary and Minot State last weekend.  U-Mary scored early on Friday to take one goal advantage before Concordia evened it up on Alahna Anderson's third goal of the year half way through the first.  With just about 11 minutes left in regulation U-Mary scored to give them the deciding 2-1 lead.  The Marauders improved to 11-0-1 against the Golden Bears all-time.  Concordia struck first to take a 1-0 lead but were unable to hold on against Minot State as the Beavers scored two straight to win the match.  Alahna Anderson leads the team with her three goals.

Augustana had a seven game winning streak snapped this past weekend after falling 4-2 to St. Cloud State on Friday and dropping a tough overtime game to Minnesota Duluth 3-2 on Sunday.  Augustana sits in fifth place with 15 points.  Maren Werth ranks fifth in the NSIC with eight goals to lead the Vikings.  Concordia is 2-4-1 all-time against Augie and won the last meeting 2-1 in St. Paul last season.

Wayne State comes in on a three game losing streak with losses to Bemidji State, Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State.  The Wilcats have been outscored 10-1 in those three matches and have given up at least five goals in four of their ten matches this season.  WSC got their only win on September 22nd against MSU Moorhead in a 1-0 shutout.  Macy Hagen leads the Wildcats with three goas on the year.  The Golden Bears hold a 10-6-1 record against Wayne State and have won the last two meetings dating back to 2010.  CU is 6-2-1 in Wayne.
