ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia Golden Bears soccer team (5-11, 4-9 NSIC) wraps up their home schedule this Friday night at 7:00 p.m. against Winona State (12-2-2, 11-2 NSIC) before traveling to Fayette to take on Upper Iowa (13-3, 11-2 NSIC) in the season finale at 1:00 p.m. Concordia will honor their seniors for Senior Night on Friday night at Sea Foam Stadium. The senior class includes five players that have started games for the Golden Bears this year.
Concordia broke their three game losing streak on Sunday with a 3-1 win over the Sioux Falls Cougars in St. Paul. The Golden Bears built a 3-0 lead in the first 20 minutes of the game and cruised to a 3-1 win. On Saturday, CU dropped a 3-0 match to the #25 SMSU Mustangs. The Golden Bears are now 2-6 at home this season.
Alahna Anderson continues to play good soccer for CU, scoring two more goals this Sunday to bring her season total to eight. She has also added two assists. Her eight goals on the year are tied for sixth in school history and her four game-winning goals are tied for the single-season school record.
Concordia has had a tough time with the Warriors in the past, going 1-21-1 in their 23 meetings. Their only win came back on September 5, 2007 in a 1-0 win in St. Paul. Last season, the Warriors shut out the Golden Bears in a 3-0 win in Winona.
Alaina Kne and Kati Baker are tied for the team lead with four goals for WSU. Goalie Alexandra Vial is 11-2-2 and with an 0.50 goals against average.
CU and UIU have split the all-time series with each team taking five wins. The Peacocks have taken the last two games, including a 3-0 win in St. Paul last season.
Aimee Wronski ranks second in the NSIC with 14 goals for Upper Iowa and leads the league in shots with 5.38 per game. Keeper Kaitlyn Emanuel has an 11-3 record with a 1.00 goals against average.
