Box Score SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Concordia University volleyball team (17-1, 9-0 NSIC) knocked off the Augustana Vikings in straight sets (14-3, 6-3 NSIC) to extend their winning streak to 15 matches. Concordia also extended it's NSIC regular season winning streak to 23, dating back to a trip to Minnesota Duluth on September 28, 2012. The Golden Bears improved to 18-1 all-time against Augie, winning 18 in a row.
Concordia took control in the first set, turning a 7-6 deficit into an 18-11 lead with a 12-4 run. The Vikings weren't able to get back within five the rest of the set as the Golden Bears took a 1-0 lead with a 25-18 win in the set.
Heather Schiller led the CU offense with five kills in the first.
The second set featured another big Golden Bear run to break a close set open. The two teams sat even at 10-10 before Concordia scored nine of the next 11 points to grab a 19-12 lead. CU didn't let up the rest of the set as they cruised to a 25-16 set win and 2-0 lead in the match.
Augustana scored the first point but that would be their only lead in the final set. Concordia pushed the lead out to seven at 19-12 and had no trouble finishing off the Vikings by taking the third set 25-18.
Kayla Koenecke followed up a career performance last night by picking up her 10th double-double on the year with 14 kills and 16 digs. She hit an efficient .500 for the match.
Emily McDonough finished off an outstanding weekend of her own by falling just short of a double-double with eight kills and a team best 18 digs.
Erienne Lauersdorf also finished in double digits in kills with 10. All-American setter
Amanda Konetchy kept up her solid play with 43 assists and five digs after setting a school record for assists in a match last night.
The Golden Bears return home next weekend to take on Sioux Falls on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and #6 Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. Saturday is Dig Pink Night at the Gangelhoff Center as CU faces off against the only other unbeaten team in NSIC play.
